We’re almost approaching the first birthday of the Young Money Blog!
Yes, it’s been a year since a cub journalist looked around her, saw the bewilderment and alienation in the faces of broke young people, and decided to do something about it!
I set up the blog to offer guidance, solidarity and information about all the biggest personal finance issues affecting 16 – 30 year olds. From my very first blog on the con surrounding festival tickets to scoops on the Money Advice Service and Wonga Facebook tactics, the posts have all been written to give young people a voice and help us all get to the bottom of what’s really going on out there.
I want to say thanks to those who have read the blog, offered feedback and got in touch.
But since actions speak louder than words, I’d like to reward you loyal readers by telling you about an excellent competition that connects to my first ever blog on festival tickets.
The Young Money Blog supports festivals that offer a quality, good-value experience for young music fans, so we’re supporting a truly unique competition from Brothers Cider.
The family brewers are offering tickets to a selection of quality festivals throughout the summer, as well as £1,000 cash, an iPhone and 20 cases of cider – and quite possibly a cult following online!
All you have to do is make a 1 minute video which shows off your festival presenting skills to the max and post it on www.brotherscider.co.uk/bff by 21st May. It’s up to you to capture the real festival spirit – you can discuss your favourite bands, the best camping companions, your tipple of choice or something else entirely!
The Top 10 videos will be voted for by Brothers Facebook Fans with the winner being chosen by The Brothers themselves. The runners up will be given pairs of festival tickets and up to 1,000 others will be sent Brothers Festival packs, containing a Festival Flag, a lanyard and a badge. So put your thinking cap on, jump in front of the camera, dust off your wellies and get ready for festival freedom!
Brothers 2012 Weekends of Freedom include:
Parklife, Manchester, 9-10th June
Beach Break Live, South Wales, 14-18th June
Guilfest, Guildford, 13-15th July
Boardmasters, Newquay, 8-12th August
SW4, Clapham Common, 25-26th August
…and more to be confirmed!
GET YOUR SKATES ON, BECAUSE THE COMPEITION CLOSES ON MONDAY – GOOD LUCK!
